Micro Braids With Your Own Hair?

I have long hair. It falls just about 2 inches past my shoulder. I'm wondering about the effects of micros on my hair. Will they damage my hair? I heard it can cause breakage, but I haven't found any sites that talk about using just your hair. I don't use weave. Haven't since I was five and that was a one time only thing.

I want a new style for my hair and wanted micros. So...what are some things I should do to not only prepare, but protect my hair before considering braids? My hair is relaxed. I've only had french braids put in. Are there any sites that can help me do my own micros? And what are some cute styles? Ones that I can do with or w/o micros.

whatever you do i recommend you do not use weave!.. my hair was very thick and a little past my shoulders when i got it and when i had taken them out my hair thinned out so much, i even had a small bald spot.

the only think about using your real hair is it maybe too soft, it all depends on the texture.
