how important is a guy's hair to a girl? what is the best style? do girls prefer long hair or short and spiky?

It's important to me, it really really affects how a guy looks. I mean in the end it's all about personality but for looks, hair is a big thing. I like a guy with longish hair, and most of the girls I know do too. We always complain that guys will have like the perfect, kinda curly, longish almost-in-their-eyes hair, and then they get a haircut and they're not eye candy anymore LOL.
